stopped going to church

What’s the most spontaneous thing you’ve ever done?

On Christmas Day three years ago I decided to no longer attend church. I had intended to go. It was the first time in my whole life. I had always been involved. But that day it all became somewhat clear – this is not for me!

I went to Midnight Mass the night before and could not wait for it to end. The sermon was just silly and I did not commune. So it was time to make the hidden visible.

One thought on “stopped going to church”

  1. We usually think about spontaneity as taking actions that stem from creativity, curiosity or the desire to pursue new experiences, It tends to result in feelings of satisfaction, exhilaration and joy.
Yours seems to be an unusual example. Were the accompanying emotions things like a feeling of relief or release, or perhaps a sense of greater personal integrity?
